Updated: Deceased female found in Athol; death considered criminal

The deceased body of a white female in her 20s was found near the entrance to the Athol wastewater treatment Plant on Jones Street in Athol early this morning, November 11, 2019. Update Nov. 13, 2019: The victim has been identified as Kelsey Clifford, 26, of Leominster.
Athol Police and Massachusetts State Police assigned to the Northwestern District Attorney’s Office are jointly investigating the death, which is considered criminal in nature.
The official cause of death will be determined by the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner’s Office.
