Suspect arrested in Nov. 11 Athol Death; arraignment scheduled for 2

Keith Hamel, 23, of Athol, was arrested in downtown Athol today in connection with the Nov. 11, 2019 murder of Kelsey Clifford, 26, of Leominster. Hamel is being held without bail and is scheduled to be arraigned in the Orange District Court UPDATED **** at 2 p.m. on Tuesday.****
***Hamel was arraigned on a charge of murder, Tuesday, Nov. 20, 2019, and is to be held without bail and is scheduled to return to court on Feb. 14, 2020.***
Clifford's body was found outside the entrance to the Athol Wastewater Treatment Facility in the early-morning hours of Nov. 11, 2019.
Her death was jointly investigated by the Athol Police Department and the Massachusetts State Police Detectives Unit attached to the Northwestern District Attorney's Office.
