Our advocates, prosecutors, and staff fight every day for the victims of crime who may be a vulnerable senior, a young child, or a battered spouse. We are committed to addressing the challenges of substance abuse, child abuse, domestic violence and other serious matters impacting the safety and quality of life in our 47 Northwestern communities.
The Victim/Witness Assistance Unit provides advocacy and information about the court process to victims and witnesses of crime, as well as information about victim rights and referrals to community resources, in accordance with the Massachusetts Victim Bill of Rights (Massachusetts General Law, Chapter 258B). Services also are provided to family members of child victims and to survivors of homicide victims.
The Northwestern District Attorney's Office is committed to preventing crime and reducing victimization. We work collaboratively with communities to prevent and address the challenges of substance abuse, child abuse, domestic violence, consumer scams, elder exploitation and other serious matters impacting the safety and quality of life in our 47 Northwestern communities. We work closely with community coalitions, youth-serving agencies, law enforcement agencies and public and private schools to promote prevention initiatives and offer educational programs and events that foster resilient and vibrant, thriving communities.
The Northwestern District Attorney’s Office is committed to and promotes equal opportunity, affirmative action and diversity.
