South Carolina man convicted of rape in July 2014 Northampton incident

Christopher F. Hoime, 53, of North Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, was convicted by a Hampshire Superior Court jury on Nov. 9, 2018, of one count of rape, following a 5-day trial.

On the night of July 31, 2014, Hoime is alleged to have drugged the 31-year-old victim during a night out in Northampton and taken her back to his hotel room where he raped her as she came in and out of consciousness.

Hoime’s bail was revoked after the verdict was announced and a sentencing date is to be determined.

The incident was investigated by Sergeant Patrick Moody of the Northampton Police Department and prosecuted by Assistant District Attorney Jennifer Suhl, Chief of the Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault Unit.
