Orange man to be arraigned on armed assault to murder and other charges

A 29-year-old  Orange man has been charged with multiple crimes, including armed assault to murder and several counts of assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, in connection with an incident in Orange yesterday afternoon.

The suspect allegedly stabbed a 71-year-old woman in her home.  She was transported to a hospital in Worcester and is expected to survive.  The motive for the attack remains under investigation.

The suspect, who was known to the victim, is in custody and expected to be arraigned in Orange District Court this afternoon.

The case remains under investigation by Orange Police and Massachusetts State Police Detective Unit attached to the Northwestern District Attorney's Office.

The defendant is expected to be charged with the following:
