Murder suspect arraigned today; bail hearing scheduled Monday, OCT. 24, 2 p.m.

Cara Rintala, 45, most recently of Narragansett, R.I., was arraigned in Hampshire Superior Court in Northampton this afternoon on a single count of first degree murder in connection with the March 29, 2010 death of Annamarie Rintala, then 37,  in the home they formerly shared at 18 Barton Street in Granby.
 
By agreement of the parties, Judge Bertha Josephson agreed to hold the defendant without bail until Monday afternoon, at which time the defendant’s bail status will be addressed. 
 
First Assistant District Attorney Steven E. Gagne said at a press conference after the arraignment that although he is prohibited from discussing the specific evidence in the case until Monday’s bail hearing, “We have supreme confidence in the strength of our case.”
