What to do if you suspect a child is being abused or neglected
If you suspect that a child is being abused or neglected, you should immediately either
- Telephone your local police department (Click on the link below)
- Contact the Department of Children and Families (DCF) office where the child lives (see list of offices on right) and ask for the Protective Screening Unit. Office are staffed between 9 am and 5 pm weekdays; or
- To make a report to DCF at any other time, including after 5 p.m. and on weekends and holidays, please call the Child-At-Risk Hotline at 1-800-792-5200.
